MG Maestro Turbo

Tickford helped with the MG MAESTRO TURBO of which 500 models and 5 demonstrators were produced. Each had a 2litre turbo with inter cooler producing 152ps. It was the fastest MG at the time. Tickford supplied and fitted the body-kits, choice of four colours Red (215) Black (49) White (92) Green (149) Spare body-kits were then destroyed to maintain exclusivity. The cars were assembled at Rover’s Cowley facility before being shipped to Tickford’s Bedworth plant for application of the five-piece body-kit and graphics. The body kit featured a fibreglass front and rear bumper incorporating driving lamps, full length side skirts and a roof level tailgate spoiler. The body kit was colour coded along with the side mirrors, grille and side mouldings. Tickford were also involved with the engine development and suspension tuning. The car was unveiled at the 1988 Birmingham Motor Show. 215 were Flame Red 149 British Racing Green 92 Diamond White 49 Factory Black Other than the Flame Red, all the cars featured a red insert strip. The Flame red had a black insert, as per the advert below. The list price for the MG Maestro Turbo was £13,529.
